The KL Bird Park is the worlds largest free-flight walk-in aviary. With over 3,000 birds and 200 species it took us a full afternoon to say hi to all the birds. Sprawling over 21 acres there is a lot of ground to cover and many birds to feed. The list of birds we saw was long but here is a few that were in the park, the green cheeked conure, great hornbill, baya weaver, buffy fish-owl and so many more.

Shiny twins

While we didn't have high expectations for Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, we were pleasently surprised. The city had a great night life which we experienced two nights in a row until 5am. Although the clubs were not the only thing worth exploring. Some of the Archicture in this city is fantastic. Two buildings that stands out of the crowd are the Petronas Towers. Built in 1998 it was the tallest building in the world for 6 years. Although still the largest twin towers ever built.

After exploring the twin towers we also ventured to the other side of town for views from the KL Tower. While sort of similar looking to the Space Needle, I liked how it seemed to always change when the lights below transitioned. We skipped on going to the top, but the tower was still impressive to stand under.

Island time

Two months into our trip we finally arrived on a beautiful island in Malaysia. Tioman Island was our home for a week as we studied scuba diving with Scuba Steve. The South China Sea was warm and crystal clear. While we spent a large majority of our time studying it was worth it in the end. We saw three huge green turtles, many colorful fish, and even a black tip reef shark briefly on our dives.
We also met many great people while sitting at the relaxing sunset bar every evening. Australians, Sweds, Canadians, British, and even the Germans once again that we meet in Singapore. It was extremely tough to leave, but there are more islands to explore in northern Malay.

Our personal tour guide

Since we only stayed in Signapore a few days we quickly ventured up to Malaysia for our 5th country. While waiting at the bus station in the morning we started chatting with Nathaniel, a local Malaysian. He offered to be our personal tour guide while staying in Malacca. He took us around to the historical sites and showed us the famous dishes in Malacca. The highlight easily being the crepe cake.

Nathaniel also suggested we go up the Malacca Tower (Menara Taming Sari) to view city from above. The tower spins while rising to the top for a 360 view of  the city. It was a good view of the european malaysian city below.
