A tour around Seattle

I was so happy to get a message a few weeks ago while on Facebook, my good buddy Jason from high school and his girlfriend Carrie were planning to make it up to Seattle to see us before we ventured off on our trip. This was a nice surprise and something we had been lightly talking about for years. Jason had only been to Seattle once before while playing with his band Lion Fever at Chop Suey some time ago. This would be the first time that he got to explore the city in a bit more depth.

Cassie and I started off showing them the standard Seattle must sites while exploring a bit more of the hidden gems. No trip to Seattle could ever be complete without a sandwich at Paseos or drinking a beer at Lindas could it? We also toured the downtown library and stoped in to see Kurt Cobain's house after a beautiful hike up to Little Si.

While their trip was extremly short, only a few days. I'm pretty sure we wore him and his girlfriend out with all the walking we did around the city. I even think they might have liked what they saw, it's not as big as LA but I personally think we got that city beat.

Making it official, on Facebook

I would say that telling our jobs finally made our trip official but I don't think that's the truth. It really wasn't official until it was posted on Facebook. We decided to tell our jobs on Friday March 23rd at 9:30am. Quiting your job is always a little scary, especially in this economy. Hopefully when we come back to the states things will have changed. Highly unlikely but it's okay to daydream every once in a while.

Now we just have to work these last four weeks at our jobs while selling our stuff. Luckily most of it is just "stuff" that we won't miss anyways. Anybody interested in buying a couch?

Home Cooked

One night I started thinking about all the wonderful things I'm going to miss about not having an apartment to come home to every night. One thing missed dearly will be all the home cooked meals I've come to enjoy all my life. So I decided to document some of my favorite meals that I will certainly come to miss. I'm going to start off with breakfast. By far my favorite meal of the day and rightfully so, it contains all the essentials, like bacon, eggs & OJ. While I've made all sorts of wonderful things my all time favorite is the simple and classic McMuffin.

Secondly I'll add another one of my all time favorites. Pizza, I'm not going to say this is a lunch or dinner meal, because obviously it should be consumed anytime of the day. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. These home made pies were delicous and I can still taste them now.

Last but not least are Cassie's chocolate chip cookies. These are a staple to our diets. Why? Because they are delicious and desert is another essential meal not to be forgotten. Over the years my sweetie has prefected these cookies and I've been a more than willing taste tester.

Cya wheels

I’m extremely happy to write that our car has been sold. This was one of the major items that needed to be dealt with before we left and it’s now out of the way. While I thought selling our car would be tough with this economy it actually sold pretty quickly. After it was posted on craigslist it only took about a week before it had a new owner. I’m also happy to say that we sold it with our University of Arizona sticker still on the back window. Go Cats!

In other great news it looks like the school loan is almost complete, which is ahead of schedule. Only a few more weeks left before we celebrate with some tasty brews. I think I’ll put aside the cheap Rainier for a night and drink a few microbrews instead for this special occasion. Although the money saved from drinking Rainier is really nice.
